Veterinarian A One-Doctor Practice where Caring is our Priority
Kristin J. McIntyre, DVM
| | I am "Your Neighborhood Veterinarian" and owner of NorthPointe Animal Hospital.
Born and raised in Fresno, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Animal Science at California State University, Fresno, with a pre-Vet option and a minor in chemistry. In 1998, I earned my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree with cum laude honors at Tuskegee University in Alabama, including an internship at a small and exotic animal hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Since then, I have been practicing medicine and surgery in the Fresno/Clovis area for small and exotic animals. In 2005 I started NorthPointe in order to offer the highest standards of veterinary practice, state-of-the-art diagnostics, and a compassionate and caring environment for my patients and clients.
Veterinary medicine seemed to be my destiny, as I always seemed to have a knack for caring for pets--my own and everyone else's. My childhood cat Smokey had many ailments that I cared for, including a thorn in his eye and cancer. As long as I can remember, there have always been pets in my life, from puppies and kittens, dogs and cats, to rats, hamsters, birds, snakes, lizards, frogs and fish. I first volunteered--then worked--at the Chaffee Zoo here in Fresno, and also worked as a veterinary technician while completing my undergraduate studies in Fresno.
My professional interests are exotic animal and small animal internal medicine and surgery. I am a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), California Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA), the Central California Veterinary Medical Association (CCVMA) and the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). I enjoy attending seminars to keep current in veterinary medicine and find client communication and education very important to pet health. For this reason, I serve as a community correspondent on local morning news shows on TV, giving pet/human health information on-air. I have also performed work for the California Feline Foundation and Central California SPCA. I have presented information to children at local schools, day care businesses, and recreational facilities, in an ongoing effort to promote healthy pets and their families. My husband is an elementary school teacher in Fresno. We have two children, two "4-legged kids" (one dog and one cat), and an aquarium full of fish.
I have been training in Shotokan Karate since 1992. I love hiking, and have climbed Mt. Whitney, Half Dome, and both Yosemite and Vernal Falls. I also coached my son's soccer team and enjoy scrapbooking.
I consider myself professional yet open and personable, and I look forward to serving you and your pets with friendly, compassionate and expert veterinary care. | |
