Emergency Treatment

If your pet needs emergency treatment during our normal business hours, please call ahead if possible at (559) 434-5470 and then come directly to our hospital. Please do not facebook or e-mail urgent or emergency related material. The best way to reach us is to call and come in.

For after-hours emergencies, you can contact these Fresno veterinarians:

Fresno Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center at (559) 451-0800, located on N. Blackstone, between Sierra & Herndon

or

Veterinary Emergency Services at (559) 486-0520, located at Fresno and McKinley.

First Aid

PLEASE SEEK IMMEDIATE MEDICAL TREATMENT FOR YOUR ANIMAL. Delay could endanger your pet's life.

Our Encyclo-PET-ia offers information on first aid measures for common pet emergencies. Please use this to inform yourself about possible dangers to your pet and measures that you can use until you can get veterinary treatment. However, in event of an actual emergency, do not waste time searching for first aid measures -- SEEK IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION from NorthPointe or Fresno Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center.

Muzzling

Even normally gentle pets will bite when in pain. Take care when handling injured animals and use a muzzle to prevent biting. If you don't have a muzzle, use a strip of cloth, rope, necktie or pantyhose. Wrap around the nose, under the chin and tie behind the ears. Do not use a muzzle in case of vomiting. With small pets that are difficult to muzzle, place a towel around the head.

Stretcher

To transport your weak or injured pet safely, use a board, blanket or floor mat as a stretcher.
